The Amadabo of Finima, HRH Aseme Alabo Dagogo Lambert-Brown, Kongo the 17th, has renewed calls for justice, proper resettlement, and full recognition of Finima’s rights as the host community of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas project.
Speaking during the commemoration of the June 10 anniversary of the 2021 attack on Finima residents, the monarch said the incident remains a painful reminder of what the community has endured in its relationship with neighbouring communities and project stakeholders over alleged neglect linked to the Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) project.

He described June 10 as a permanent memorial for the people of Finima, stressing that it reflects the sacrifices made by the community in support of Nigeria’s economic development through the siting of critical gas infrastructure on their land.
The monarch also lamented what he called the abandonment of the Finima Resettlement Project, alongside outstanding obligations contained in legacy agreements between the community and NLNG.
He maintained that recent court rulings have affirmed Finima’s status as the host community under relevant petroleum and local content frameworks, noting that the land hosting NLNG facilities and the Train 7 workers’ camp was originally provided by Finima.

Aseme Alabo Dagogo-Brown appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene by setting up a special task force to resolve the outstanding resettlement issues and ensure compliance with existing agreements.
Also speaking at the event, Dr Bara Kabaka-Brown said the June 10 incident has strengthened the community’s resolve to continue engaging companies operating on Finima land, while Warisenibo Igbewari Prince-Brown described the attack as one of the most painful experiences of his life.
