The Federal Government of Nigeria says the recent decline in the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), popularly known as cooking gas, reflects the positive impact of ongoing interventions aimed at improving affordability and supply across the country.
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, said government initiatives in the gas sector were beginning to yield results, expressing optimism that prices would continue to fall as more measures are implemented to boost availability.
The minister’s remarks come as retail prices of cooking gas declined across parts of the Federal Capital Territory after weeks of increases linked to global market pressures and supply constraints.

Market checks indicate that some outlets in Abuja now sell LPG for between ₦1,450 and ₦1,500 per kilogram, down from about ₦1,700 previously recorded at major retail stations. Other outlets in Kubwa, Dawaki, Bwari and Lugbe continue to dispense the product at between ₦1,650 and ₦1,700 per kilogram, depending on location.
The Federal Government says it remains committed to expanding domestic gas utilisation and ensuring that cooking gas becomes more affordable for Nigerians.
