Federico Chiesa is expected to remain at Liverpool despite summer transfer speculation linking the forward with a move away from Anfield.
The Italy international has attracted interest from clubs in Serie A after struggling for regular playing time under former Liverpool manager Arne Slot. However, the arrival of new head coach Andoni Iraola has provided Chiesa with an opportunity to revive his career at the club.
Chiesa has indicated that his focus is on earning a place in Iraola’s squad rather than pursuing an exit. The forward said he is happy at Liverpool and wants to prove himself under the new manager.
The 28-year-old joined Liverpool from Juventus in 2024 but found consistent opportunities limited during his time under Slot. He made 36 appearances last season but started only a small number of matches.
Under Iraola, Chiesa has been involved in tactical discussions around pressing and positioning, with the manager using him in a more central attacking role during pre-season. The forward also scored in Liverpool’s friendly victory over Sunderland, giving him a positive start under the new coaching setup.
Despite Liverpool strengthening their attacking options during the transfer window, Chiesa is not expected to leave before the deadline and remains part of Iraola’s plans as the club prepares for the new season.
Liverpool are hoping the Italian forward can rediscover the form that made him one of Europe’s most highly rated attackers before his move to England.
