The Football Association has said the independent commission’s findings against Manchester City over serious breaches of Premier League financial rules have “significant implications” for the integrity of football.
The FA said on Friday that it was reviewing the decision and considering whether further action would be appropriate.
“The Independent Commission’s decision has significant implications for the integrity of the game. We are carefully considering the decision and its implications and will take action where appropriate,” the FA said.

It declined to comment further because proceedings between Manchester City and the Premier League remain ongoing, but said it would continue monitoring developments.
The independent commission found Manchester City guilty of all charges relating to serious breaches of Premier League financial regulations covering nine seasons from 2009/10 to 2017/18.
According to the Premier League, the commission found that City used commercial arrangements that misrepresented the true agreements between the parties, resulting in revenues being artificially increased and costs reduced.
The commission also concluded that the club submitted misstated accounts and concealed the true state of its finances from auditors and football regulators.
It further found that Manchester City significantly breached Premier League and UEFA spending limits during the period under investigation.
Three of four alleged breaches relating to the club’s duty to cooperate with the Premier League investigation were also upheld.
The Premier League said the question of sanctions would be considered separately by the independent commission.

Possible sanctions have therefore not yet been determined, and the disciplinary process remains ongoing.
Manchester City has the right to appeal the commission’s findings under Premier League rules.
The FA’s intervention introduces another dimension to the case, with English football’s governing body saying it will determine whether any action within its jurisdiction is required after reviewing the findings.
