President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has called on Nigerians to embrace sacrifice, unity, and collective responsibility as Muslims across the world celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.

Akpabio made the call in a goodwill message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, in which he felicitated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Muslim faithful on the occasion of the Islamic festival.

The Senate President said Eid-el-Kabir serves as a reminder of the virtues of faith, obedience, sacrifice, and devotion exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.

“This sacred occasion reminds us of Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering faith, obedience, and willingness to sacrifice for the sake of Almighty Allah,” Akpabio stated.

“These timeless virtues of devotion, selflessness, and submission to divine will are values our nation desperately needs today,” he added.

Akpabio urged Nigerians to use the period for prayers for peace, national unity, security, and economic prosperity, stressing the need for citizens to support one another irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.

“As you share with the less privileged and extend love to neighbours of all faiths, you embody the true spirit of Nigeria,” he said.

The Senate President also called for prayers for security personnel battling insecurity across the country and for farmers to safely return to their farms.

“Let us pray for our troops on the frontlines, for farmers to return safely to their fields, and for unity to prevail over division in our nation,” he stated.

Reflecting on the nation’s challenges, Akpabio said Nigeria is undergoing a period of testing that requires patience, tolerance, and hope from citizens.

“Just as Prophet Ibrahim was tested, Nigeria is in a season of testing. The sacrifices we make today in patience, in tolerance, and in choosing hope over despair will determine the Nigeria our children inherit,” he said.

He noted that the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, with support from the National Assembly, is founded on the principle of collective sacrifice for long-term national progress.

Akpabio prayed for Allah’s blessings, guidance, and peace upon Nigeria and wished Muslim faithful a peaceful Eid celebration.

“May Almighty Allah accept your prayers and sacrifices. May He heal our land, guide our leaders, and bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
