The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar Farouq, wanted over allegations bordering on criminal conspiracy, abuse of office, and diversion of public funds.

EFCC DECLARES EX-HUMANITARIAN MINISTER WANTED OVER ALLEGED FRAUD
The anti-corruption agency announced the development in a wanted notice published on its official website on Saturday.
According to the EFCC, Farouq, 52, is an indigene of Zamfara State, with her last known address listed as EN 008, Okpo River, off Agulu Street, Maitama, Abuja.
In the notice signed by the commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the agency appealed to members of the public to provide information that could assist in locating the former minister.
“The public is hereby notified that Sadiya Umar Farouq, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in an alleged case of criminal conspiracy, abuse of office, and diversion of public funds,” the statement read.
The commission advised anyone with useful information regarding her whereabouts to contact any of its offices across the country, including those in Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Kano, Kaduna, Enugu, Ilorin, Maiduguri, Uyo, Ibadan, and other locations. It also provided a telephone contact and official email address for tips.
Farouq served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari from 2019 to 2023.
