The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE has commenced its initial public offering, giving Nigerians an opportunity to acquire an ownership stake in the country’s largest oil refinery.

The N2.15tn ($1.6bn) offer, which opened on Monday, September 14, 2026, involves 4.1 billion ordinary shares priced at N525 each.

The transaction is being positioned as the largest public share offering in Nigeria’s history.

President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, formally signed the IPO documents during an opening ceremony held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, alongside the financial advisers and issuing houses handling the offer.

Dangote: IPO designed for ordinary Nigerians

Speaking at the ceremony, Dangote said the offer was structured to enable ordinary Nigerians to become shareholders in the refinery.

He said the initiative was intended to extend ownership beyond major investors and allow workers and other Nigerians to benefit from the facility.

“What we are trying to achieve is to make sure our drivers, cooks, servants, and everybody have the opportunity of having stakes in the refinery,” Dangote said.

The official application list opened on September 14 and will remain open until October 13, 2026.

Investors can subscribe for a minimum of 10 shares, requiring an initial investment of N5,250.

The IPO marks a significant step towards widening public participation in the ownership of the Dangote Refinery and giving Nigerian investors direct access to one of the country’s biggest industrial assets.
