The Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, has dismissed the preliminary objections and bail application filed by the Chief Executive Officer of Intermediate Investment Holdings Limited, Ufoma Joseph Immanuel, in an alleged $1.5 million fraud case.

Justice Mojisola Dada delivered the ruling on Thursday, rejecting the applications brought before the court by the defendant.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had earlier arraigned Immanuel alongside his company, Intermediate Investment Holdings Limited, on March 11, 2026.

The defendants are facing a two-count charge bordering on alleged obtaining by false pretence and forgery involving the sum of $1.5 million.

According to the anti-graft agency, the alleged offences contravene provisions of Nigeria’s criminal and anti-fraud laws.

At the proceedings, Justice Dada held that the preliminary objections lacked merit and consequently dismissed them.

The court also declined the defendant’s request for bail.

The matter is expected to continue as the prosecution moves to present evidence in support of the charges against the defendants.
