The Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Akwa Ibom State, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, has identified communication and friendship as essential ingredients for building successful and enduring marriages.
Lady Obareki stated this on Saturday in Uyo during the wedding ceremony between former Miss Margaret Richard Tommy and Mr James Udo Ekanem, Technical Officer of Golden Initiative For All, GIFA, the pet project of the First Lady.
Speaking at the event, the Coordinator advised the couple to sustain the friendship that brought them together, stressing that open and consistent communication remains vital in every marriage.
“I want you both always to communicate because I’ve been married for 10 years and I know that communication is super, super important. So no matter what it is, always be able to communicate,” she said.
Lady Obareki described the ceremony as intimate and heartwarming, noting that her decision to personally attend the wedding was influenced by positive testimonies she had received about the groom’s character from colleagues and associates.
According to her, the repeated description of Mr Ekanem as “a good man” reflected his personality and underscored the importance of honouring the occasion with her presence.
