The Commander Infantry Corps (CIC), Major General Godwin Michael Mutkut, has charged newly qualified paratroopers of the Nigerian Army to leverage the specialised skills acquired during their training to enhance operational effectiveness and contribute to the defence of Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
Major General Mutkut gave the charge on Thursday, June 4, 2026, during the graduation ceremony of students of Advanced Airborne Course 31, Basic Rigger Course 48, Basic Airborne Course 61, and Nigerian Defence Academy Cadets Basic Airborne Course 10 at the Jaji Drop Zone, Kaduna State.
Representing a colourful display of airborne capability, combat readiness, and military professionalism, the event marked the successful completion of the required military parachute jumps by the trainees, qualifying them as paratroopers.

The CIC urged the graduates to remain professional, disciplined, and committed to duty, noting that their expertise is crucial to addressing contemporary security challenges and promoting lasting peace and stability across the country. He further encouraged them to uphold the highest standards of military discipline, courage, and professionalism while continually pursuing further military education and specialised training to remain effective in an evolving security environment.
Earlier, the Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Infantry (NASI), Major General Frank Sunday Etim, said the trainees underwent rigorous physical conditioning, intensive airborne drills, and psychological preparedness training before earning the coveted airborne wings. He commended the students for demonstrating resilience, discipline, and professionalism throughout the course, emphasising that airborne operations require precision and attention to detail.

Major General Etim also reiterated the enduring Rigger motto, “I Will Be Sure Always,” underscoring the importance of safety and professionalism in airborne operations.
The NASI Commandant also graduated participants of the Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) Driving and Maintenance Section Commanders Course 40, urging them to effectively apply the skills acquired and transfer the knowledge to personnel in their respective formations and units.
