Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has sacked his Special Legislative Aide, Umar Alhassan, popularly known as King Indara, over social media posts directed at Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The removal took effect on September 18, 2026, according to a statement issued by Barau’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Shitu Madaki Kunchi.
Barau’s office said the decision followed posts by Alhassan carrying the slogan “Abba Must Go,” which it described as showing indiscipline and disrespect towards the governor.
According to the statement, the posts were inconsistent with the standards of discipline, respect and decorum expected of officials serving in the Deputy Senate President’s office.

The statement also said Alhassan’s conduct was inconsistent with the principles of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and reaffirmed Barau’s support for the party.
“Accordingly, we announce his removal from the position of Special Legislative Assistant (SLA) in the office of the Deputy Senate President with effect from September 18, 2026,” the statement said.
Alhassan is a Kano-based social media personality with a significant presence on TikTok.
The dismissal comes amid heightened political activity in Kano ahead of the 2027 general elections, where political alignments and control of the state are expected to remain major issues.
The stated reason for Alhassan’s dismissal is based on the explanation provided by Barau’s office. No separate disciplinary findings beyond the social media posts cited in the statement were announced.
