ANAMBRA ASSEMBLY RECEIVES 1ST BATCH OF COMMISSIONER NOMINEES

Anambra State House of Assembly has received the first batch of commissioner nominees forwarded by Governor Chukwuma Soludo for confirmation.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Nkem Udeze, read the governor’s communication during plenary on Wednesday and subsequently referred the nominees to the House Committee on Screening and Election Matters for further legislative action.

The list comprises 18 nominees designated for key ministries across the state.

Those nominated include Dr Ben Chuks Odoemena for Agriculture; Mr Chukwukadibia Okoye (FCCA) for Budget and Economic Planning; Mr Udoji Amedu for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism; and Dr Ekene Ogugua for Education.

Others are Dr Clem Aguiyi (Environment); Mr Izuchukwu M. Okafor (Finance); Dr Afam Obidike (Health); and Dr Law Mefor (Information and Value Reformation).

Also on the list are Barr. Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN (Justice/Attorney-General); Prof. Offornze Amucheazi, SAN (Lands); Barr. Vin Ezeaka (Local Government and Community Affairs); and Prof. Charles Ofoegbu (Petroleum and Mineral Resources).

The remaining nominees include Barr. Chijioke Oseloka Ojukwu (Physical Planning and Urban Development); Engr. Casmir Chinenye Agummadu (Power); Arc. Okey Ezeobi (Works and Infrastructure); Hon. Eddy Ibuzo (Transport); Mrs Esther Chinyere Onyekesi (Women Affairs and Social Development); and Mr Patrick Agha, MBA (Youth Development and Sports).

The screening process is expected to commence in the coming days, after which successful nominees will be confirmed by the House.
