The first prosecution witness (PW1) in the ongoing trial of Oche Jerry Ogbole-Inalegwu, Director of Mechanical Services at the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), has told the court how a total sum of ₦268,503,653 was paid into the defendant’s account by various contractors.

Ogbole-Inalegwu is standing trial before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, following his arraignment on February 25, 2026, on a nine-count charge bordering on an alleged ₦395,190,600 fraud.

Testifying on Thursday, April 23, 2026, PW1, who is the Head of the Compliance Unit at Access Bank Plc, explained under examination by prosecution counsel, Abba Mohammed, SAN, that multiple payments were traced to the defendant’s account from contractors handling projects for the NRC.

According to the witness, the inflows came from several entities and individuals, including China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC), Abads Ventures Limited, Alhaji Danjuma Baba, Lovcom Associate, James Iria, Naophil Enterprises, Benches Nigeria Limited, Michael Emma, MDC Resources, Waliki Nigeria Limited, Michael Sonayo, Goa Multilink, Sorchi Marble, KC Services Nigeria Limited, Tunde Adewale Odunbanjo, Syero Associate, Luscord International, Tinola Global, Romint Nigeria Limited, and David Onokhoma.

He stated that the payments, made between February 12, 2019, and October 8, 2025, totalled ₦268,503,653.

One of the charges against the defendant alleges that he received ₦11,397,500 from CCECC through the account of Altech Engineering Services, an entity linked to him, in connection with contracts awarded by the NRC during his tenure as Railway District Manager.

During cross-examination, defence counsel, Modechi Adejoh, questioned the witness on how transaction narrations are recorded and the rules governing the identification of senders and recipients. The witness responded that banks use varying narration formats for transactions.

After hearing the witness, Justice Dada adjourned the matter until June 4, 2026, for continuation of the trial.
