Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and the Osun Development Association have agreed on a partnership framework aimed at accelerating industrialisation and socio-economic development across the state.
The agreement followed a four-hour meeting between the governor and members of the association on Tuesday evening, during which both sides discussed strategies for attracting investment, improving infrastructure and expanding opportunities across key sectors of the state’s economy.
Adeleke was accompanied by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, and two other members of the State Executive Council.
The ODA delegation was led by its Chairman, Dr Segun Aina, and included business executives and professionals from the banking, energy and financial services sectors.
Speaking on behalf of the association, Aina announced Adeleke as the ODA’s first patron and said the organisation was established to mobilise accomplished professionals and business leaders of Osun origin to contribute to the development of the state.
Aina said the association intended to complement the state government’s development efforts by deploying the expertise, networks and resources of its members.
Proposed areas of collaboration include the establishment of a Social and Economic Advisory Council, creation of an industrial development bank and development of a platform to mobilise investment funds into the Osun economy.
The association also proposed increased interventions in education and healthcare as part of the partnership.
Responding, Adeleke welcomed the proposals and called on successful indigenes of Osun to invest in the state.
He urged the ODA to use its network to attract local and international investors and support efforts to accelerate industrial development.
The governor said his administration had been addressing infrastructure challenges and implementing measures aimed at creating a more conducive environment for investment and enterprise.
Adeleke also welcomed the proposed establishment of an Osun State Social and Economic Advisory Council, saying the government would examine how the initiative could be implemented.
He expressed support for the development of industrial parks, describing the proposal as consistent with the administration’s industrialisation agenda.
The governor, however, noted that Osun already has a Free Trade Zone available for industrial establishments and operations.
He urged the association to formally submit requests for land allocation and said measures had been introduced to reduce delays associated with land processing.
According to Adeleke, the processing period for Certificates of Occupancy has been reduced to 45 days.
“This partnership is important. I welcome the hosting planned by ODA for me by January 2027. I look forward to our joint action to accelerate development of our dear state through delivery of good governance,” Adeleke said.
Both sides expressed readiness to translate the proposed partnership into initiatives aimed at expanding Osun’s industrial base, attracting investment and creating socio-economic opportunities across the state.
