The village head of Aujarawar Alkali in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Ahmad Yakubu Ahmad, has reportedly been found dead after he was abducted from his community.
Ahmad was abducted during a late-night attack on Aujarawar Alkali on Thursday, September 17, 2026, after armed men invaded the community and took him to an undisclosed location.
A resident of Gezawa, Musa Garba, said the traditional ruler’s remains were later discovered and identified by his family.
According to Garba, the remains were found in a shallow grave in the Gezawa area several days after the abduction.
He said the village head was subsequently taken to a hospital before arrangements were made for his burial.
Funeral prayers were reportedly held on Wednesday afternoon before the traditional ruler was laid to rest.
The abduction had earlier caused concern among residents and community leaders, who appealed to security agencies to intensify efforts to secure Ahmad’s release.
The Kano State Police Command had yet to issue a formal statement confirming the reported killing or providing details of its investigation as of the time of this report.
