Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved several major promotions in the Nigerian Police Force.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police: Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) Funsho Adegboye has been promoted to Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG).
Before this, he was AIG in charge of the Police Mobile Force at Force Headquarters, Abuja, and has served in various operational, administrative, and international assignments, including UN missions in Kosovo, Liberia, Timor, and Somalia.
Assistant Inspectors-General of Police: Commissioners of Police Danjuma Aboki (formerly in charge of Imo State Police Command) and Dansabo Idi (formerly Acting AIG, Research and Planning, Force Headquarters) have been promoted to AIG.
Their careers include extensive command and operational experience across multiple states and units.
Assistant Superintendents of Police II: A total of 26,119 Inspectors were promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Police II, following their performance in the Departmental Selection Board Examination.
The promotions follow a merit-based process involving written exams and oral interviews.
PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (retd.) emphasized the importance of these promotions as a recognition of responsibility and service.
He also praised the PSC Standing Committee on Nigeria Police Force Matters, led by DIG Taiwo Lakanu (retd.), for overseeing the examination and interview processes.
Previously, in December 2025, the PSC approved promotions for 774 senior officers.
