AKWA IBOM POLICE ARREST MAN FOR UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF FIREARM

Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested Blessing Ime Abel, a 38-year-old resident of Ikot Akpa Ntuen Village, Ukanafun Local Government Area, for alleged unlawful possession of a firearm, threat to life, and possession of suspected illicit substances.

The arrest followed a report by a victim, identified as Emekpo, who reported a case of threatening violence.

During a search, Abel was found in possession of a locally made pistol, one live cartridge, and substances suspected to be illicit drugs.

Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, who confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Tuesday – reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for crimes involving firearms, threats to public safety.

He assured residents of the police’s continued commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

The police public relations officer, DSP Timfon John, encouraged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and detection.
