President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Nigerian national football team, the Super Eagles, on their bronze medal victory at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), secured on Saturday.
The President commended the team for their resilience and character in bouncing back from the disappointment of their semi-final defeat to host nation Morocco last Wednesday.
The Super Eagles defeated Egypt’s Pharaohs, seven-time AFCON champions, via penalty shootout after regulation time ended goalless, with Nigeria dominating large spells of the encounter.
President Tinubu said the performance of the Super Eagles once again demonstrated the determination, persistence, and indomitable spirit that Nigerians are known for across the world.
President Tinubu reaffirmed the nation’s pride in the team, encouraged them to continue flying the Nigerian flag high in future international engagements.
