The Adamawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into an alleged acid attack on a 17-year-old boy, Walid Mohammed, in Yola South Local Government Area.

The command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Yola.

According to Nguroje, the incident occurred on January 14, 2026, at Shagari Quarters, when the victim was allegedly attacked while on his way to a mosque.

“On January 14, 2026, the victim, a 17-year-old, ran to the Shagari Division Headquarters in distress, stating that while on his way to the mosque, he was sprayed with a substance suspected to be acidic by one Idris Hamza, a resident of Shagari, Yola South LGA,” Nguroje said.

The spokesman added that Walid was immediately rushed to a hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment, while the alleged suspect was taken into custody.

Nguroje said the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case to ensure a thorough investigation.
