Prof. Sandra Chidinma Duru has restated that she is neither Senator Godswill Akpabio, former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, nor the President of Nigeria, but a “universal citizen of truth and justice,” as she called for urgent legal action in an ongoing case she describes as a test of Nigeria’s commitment to the rule of law.

Duru said the matter goes beyond an individual dispute, touches on justice, national security, Nigeria’s future. She disclosed that she had previously spoken with the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, during which she raised serious concerns regarding due process and accountability.

According to her, failure to properly address what she described as lawlessness and misconduct involving Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan would send a dangerous message that impunity prevails in Nigeria. She said she has consistently spoken out against abuse of power, compromise of due process, and disregard for justice, warning that inaction would undermine the constitution and the country’s justice system.

Duru revealed that she has survived what she described as targeted and politically motivated attacks in recent months, which she said were aimed at silencing her. She stated that she documented all incidents and has completed a comprehensive report and documentary series detailing her experiences. She added that she is currently observing whether relevant authorities will take appropriate action and prosecute those responsible.

She emphasized that she has not withdrawn her petition, clarifying that she is both a complainant in her own case, a principal witness in related cases. Duru said her petitions, submitted in April 2025, were officially received, assigned, investigated, and acknowledged as containing substantial and credible evidence, some of which has already been released to appropriate authorities.

Calling for transparency and accountability, she demanded a professional review, thorough reinvestigation, and immediate prosecution of suspects without political interference. She also called for accelerated hearings and public disclosure of outcomes, adding that forgiveness should only come after full accountability and genuine remorse.

Duru stated that her evidence is solid and that she is prepared to present it publicly to expose the roles played by individuals, including political leaders, security agencies, and institutions involved in the matter.

Describing the case as one of national and international importance, she said Nigeria and the global community are watching and insisted that the law must prevail. She also disclosed that submitting her most recent petition came with threats to her life, details of which she said have been forwarded to relevant authorities.

She said she would release further details in a subsequent statement, stressing that “the truth is coming, and it cannot be ignored.”
