Venezuela’s government has dismissed speculation that interim President Delcy Rodriguez is preparing to travel abroad, saying her administration is currently focused on domestic priorities.

In a statement released on Friday, Communications Minister Freddy Ñañez said Rodriguez is not scheduled to undertake any international trips in the near term. He added that the interim government’s attention remains firmly on internal political and security matters.

The clarification followed comments by Colombian President, Gustavo Petro, who suggested in a recent media interview that Rodriguez could visit Bogotá in the coming weeks. Petro was quoted as saying that the Venezuelan leader had requested additional time to assess the situation at home before engaging in foreign travel.

Caracas pushed back against that suggestion, stressing that no such visit has been planned or confirmed. Officials said any future diplomatic engagements would be announced through formal channels.

The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions, following recent developments in Venezuela, including the U.S. military operation that led to the seizure of former President Nicolas Maduro. Since then, Rodriguez has assumed an interim leadership role as the country navigates a volatile political transition.

Government sources say Rodriguez’s immediate focus is stabilizing internal affairs, managing the aftermath of recent events, rather than pursuing external diplomatic engagements.
