Justice Ahmad Mahmud of the Federal High Court, Sokoto, has convicted and sentenced Ahmad Abdullahi Buhari, Jamilu Bello, and Yasir Muhammad Bala on a five-count charge relating to Naira mutilation, contrary to Section 21(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007.
The defendants pleaded guilty to all charges. Prosecution counsel, ACE I Aliyu Bokani Usman PhD, urged the court to sentence them accordingly.
In addition to other penalties, the Judge ordered that the convicts undertake community sensitization programs in any secondary school within their community, educating students on the dangers of cybercrime and other fraudulent activities.
This programme will be supervised by a designated EFCC officer.
