The Ogun State Chairman of Accord, Michael Rotimi Oke, has warned that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke could face disciplinary action if his reported involvement in President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign is found to violate the party’s constitution.
Oke, however, emphasised that the governor should not be presumed guilty of anti-party activities until Accord’s national leadership investigates the circumstances surrounding his reported appointment as the President’s campaign coordinator in Osun State.
Speaking in an interview, the party chairman explained that membership obligations and disciplinary procedures were governed by Accord’s constitution, stressing that political associations alone did not automatically constitute misconduct.
“The issue here is not just about Governor Ademola Adeleke having any form of relationship with the APC Presidential Campaign Council, but whether such relationship contravenes the constitution of the party, the political stance of Accord, or any other decision taken by the party,” he said.
Oke cited Articles 13, 14 and 20 of the party’s constitution, which he said addressed members’ responsibilities, misconduct and disciplinary procedures.
He maintained that the national leadership must establish whether Adeleke’s reported involvement amounted to cooperation with the Federal Government or active political support for another party.
According to him, working with President Tinubu on governance and national development would not necessarily amount to anti-party conduct.
However, he warned that openly endorsing Tinubu or participating in campaigns for the All Progressives Congress (APC) could raise disciplinary questions, particularly if Accord eventually fields or endorses a different presidential candidate.
Oke noted that Accord had yet to select its candidate for the 2027 presidential election, making it necessary for the party to clarify its official position before determining whether any violation had occurred.

He also expressed concern that the controversy could weaken party unity, create uncertainty among members and affect preparations for the forthcoming elections.
Commenting on the relationship between Adeleke and Tinubu, Oke suggested that the governor’s reported involvement might have been influenced by personal ties rather than a formal political agreement between Accord and the APC.
He recalled that Adeleke had reportedly referred to Tinubu as his father during a committee inauguration in Abuja.
Nevertheless, Oke insisted that personal relationships should not override the party’s constitution or decisions reached by its authorised organs.
“There is a difference between the opinion of individual party leaders and a decision taken by authorised bodies of the party,” he stated.
The Accord chairman urged the national leadership to investigate the matter, establish the facts and allow Adeleke to explain his position before considering any disciplinary measures.
He stressed that the party must protect its institutional independence while ensuring fairness and due process.
The controversy comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, raising questions about how Accord will manage relationships between its members and politicians from rival parties.

Oke maintained that the party’s eventual decision should be guided by its constitution, facts and the collective interests of its members rather than speculation or individual political preferences.
