Troops of the 3 Division and Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE have dealt a major blow to bandit gangs in Plateau State rescuing communities from a planned attack and neutralizing five armed criminals.

In the early hours of January 1, intelligence-led operations intercepted a bandit group moving from Dutsen Zaki towards Odare Forest in Wase Local Government Area with the intention of attacking nearby villages. Troops engaged the criminals in a fierce firefight, killing five while others fled.

Security forces recovered two AK-47 magazines containing 11 rounds of 7.62 millimeter ammunition, two machetes, one knife. Efforts are ongoing to track the fleeing bandits.

Residents of the area praised the troops for their swift action, urged citizens to continue providing information to security agencies to help prevent future attacks.

Security analysts say the operation highlights the Nigerian Army’s commitment towards protecting lives and property in Plateau State, sending a strong warning to criminals that attacks on communities will not be tolerated.
