Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno has named the Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Anieti Udofia, as the Commissioner of the Year 2025, citing his outstanding performance, leadership and the successful organization of Christmas Unplugged 2025.
The announcement was made on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Governor’s country home.
As part of the recognition, Governor Eno announced a personal appreciation gift of ₦20 million to Dr. Udofia and approved an additional ₦100 million for the Christmas Unplugged Committee and organizing team.
The Governor commended the Commissioner and members of the team for their dedication, commitment and hard work, noting that their collective efforts played a significant role in the success and positive reception of the Christmas Unplugged 2025 celebration.
Governor Eno also disclosed that a formal presentation of the award would take place at a forthcoming State Executive Council meeting, the date of which will be communicated later.
The Christmas Unplugged initiative, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, has been widely praised for boosting tourism, promoting cultural expression and enhancing the festive experience in Akwa Ibom State.
