The Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) has announced the approval of new undergraduate programmes in Basic Medical, Health, and Physical Sciences by the National Universities Commission (NUC), effective from the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to a press release from the Office of the Registrar, Dr. Ebi Eno-Ibanga, the newly approved programmes include Nursing Science, Public Health, Environmental Health Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Community Health Science, Health Information Management, and Science Laboratory Technology.
The approval comes in response to growing trends and critical manpower needs in the health and medical sciences sectors.
The University emphasized that the programmes are globally relevant, highly marketable, and designed to prepare students for impactful careers.
Students enrolling in the Science Laboratory Technology programme will have the opportunity to specialize in eight options, including Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical/Petroleum, Geology/Mining, Microbiology/Biotechnology, Physics/Electronics, and Physiology/Pharmacology.
Applications are now open for admission into the newly approved programmes at AKSU.
