The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration over insecurity, poverty and unemployment, arguing that it does not deserve another term in office.
Kwankwaso made the remarks on Friday during a reception and town hall meeting organised by the Middle Belt Youth Council in Jos, Plateau State, in support of the Peter Obi–Kwankwaso presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general election.
The former Kano State governor represented the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who was unable to attend the gathering.
He conveyed Obi’s message of solidarity to Plateau residents and assured supporters that both candidates would arrange another opportunity to engage jointly with stakeholders in the state.
Addressing participants, Kwankwaso described the alliance as a political partnership intended to promote national unity and address Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.
He said their proposed administration would prioritise education, agriculture, employment generation and improved security.
Drawing on his experience as Kano State governor and former Minister of Defence, Kwankwaso identified illiteracy, poverty and unemployment as major obstacles to national development.

He expressed concern over the closure of factories and declining industrial activities, arguing that the loss of productive businesses had reduced employment opportunities for Nigerians.
On education, he maintained that every child should have access to schooling regardless of family background or financial circumstances.
Kwankwaso also condemned killings linked to banditry, insurgency and communal violence, insisting that protecting citizens must remain a fundamental responsibility of government.
He argued that Nigerians deserved leadership capable of safeguarding lives and property without discrimination based on religion, ethnicity or geographical location.
“Any government that cannot do that, we cannot call that government a responsible government, and that government does not deserve a second term,” he declared.
The former governor urged political leaders to prioritise public safety and address the underlying economic and social conditions contributing to insecurity.
He also called on supporters to participate actively in the electoral process and ensure that their votes were protected.

Kwankwaso referenced Obi’s performance in Plateau State during the 2023 presidential election and expressed confidence in the political cooperation between the Obidient and Kwankwasiyya movements.
The gathering formed part of the NDC’s ongoing consultations and political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
