A retired High Court Judge in Delta State, Justice Ifeoma Okogwu, has been found dead in her residence in Asaba, sparking a full-scale police investigation.

The late jurist was discovered in her sitting room at No. 8 Tom Halen Street, behind IBTC Bank, with her hands and legs tied and her mouth gagged with a wrapper.

Her brother, Emeka Okogwu, reportedly made the shocking discovery around 8:00 a.m. when he visited her home and immediately alerted the police.

Patrol teams were deployed to the scene shortly after.

Police arrested the on-duty security guard, Lucky Matthew, for questioning, while a second guard identified as Godwin Vanen has been declared missing and is currently being sought by investigators.

The Delta State Police Command says the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Asaba, for a discreet and comprehensive investigation.

Detectives are combing the residence for forensic evidence and working to uncover the motive behind the killing.

Residents of the neighbourhood described the retired judge as a quiet, respected figure and expressed deep shock over the violent incident.

Security experts have also called for heightened vigilance and stricter monitoring of private security personnel in residential areas.

The Delta State Police Command assured the public that every effort is being made to track down the culprits, including locating the missing guard, and to ensure justice for Justice Okogwu.
