Eight members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly who recently resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reportedly agreed to return to the ruling party following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
The lawmakers met with the President on Sunday night, October 18, and reportedly pledged to support the APC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
They were accompanied by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, and a member of the House of Representatives, Aminu Sani Jaji.

The development comes weeks after the lawmakers left the APC amid internal disagreements and speculation that they were considering joining the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Those involved are Aliyu Ango Kagara, representing Talata Mafara South; Ibrahim Tukur Bakura, Bakura; Faruk Musa Dosara, Maradun I; and Bashir Abubakar Masama, Bukkuyum North.
Others are Muktaru Nasiru Kaura, Kaura North; Nasiru Abdullahi, Maru North; Bashar Bello, Bungudu West; and Bashar Aliyu, Gummi I.
Following their meeting with Tinubu, the lawmakers reportedly abandoned plans to join the ADC, while discussions continued over resolving the grievances that prompted their departure.

Their anticipated return could strengthen the APC’s political position in Zamfara as parties intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
However, a formal announcement confirming their readmission into the party had not been made at the time of the report.
