Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has urged Ivorian winger Yan Diomande to improve his finishing and decision-making despite an impressive performance in the club’s 4-1 La Liga victory over Sevilla on Sunday.

The 19-year-old contributed significantly to Madrid’s commanding win at the Santiago Bernabéu, scoring a goal and providing an assist as the Spanish giants secured three points.

Speaking after the match, Mourinho expressed satisfaction with Diomande’s development but stressed that the youngster must become more composed in front of goal.

According to football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Mourinho said the winger still had considerable room for improvement, particularly when making decisions in dangerous attacking positions.

The Portuguese manager explained that although Diomande regularly creates opportunities through his movement and attacking ability, he needs greater composure when delivering the final pass or attempting to score.

Diomande’s performance against Sevilla highlighted his growing influence in Madrid’s attack. He assisted Arda Güler’s opening goal before scoring in the 82nd minute to complete the victory.

Kylian Mbappé also scored twice as Madrid maintained their pursuit of the teams above them in the La Liga standings.

Mourinho’s assessment reflects his determination to develop Diomande into a more complete attacking player, combining his pace and creativity with improved finishing.

The youngster’s recent performances have strengthened his claim for regular playing time as Madrid prepare for upcoming domestic and European fixtures.
