Minister of Works, David Umahi, has inaugurated the Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitisation team of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Umahi, who serves as Deputy Director-General of the council’s Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitisation Directorate, said the team would identify, document and publicise infrastructure projects undertaken by the Federal Government across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
Speaking during the inaugural meeting in Abuja on Thursday, the minister explained that the initiative would strengthen coordination and public awareness of infrastructure projects being implemented under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

According to Umahi, the directorate’s responsibilities will extend beyond the Federal Ministry of Works to include projects executed by other ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).
He said the exercise would provide a broader account of federal infrastructure investments and support the campaign council’s public communication and mobilisation activities ahead of the presidential election.
The minister directed the Senior Special Assistants to the President on Community Engagement across the six geopolitical zones, who have been appointed as zonal coordinators, to collaborate with members of the directorate and its secretary.
He explained that the collaboration would facilitate the identification, verification and compilation of infrastructure projects within their respective zones.
Umahi also clarified that existing engagements between the Ministry of Works and the presidential aides would continue, while the newly inaugurated team would provide a broader structure for coordinating information at zonal, state and national levels.
The minister maintained that infrastructure development remained central to economic growth, citing its role in connecting communities, supporting commercial activities and creating opportunities across various sectors.

He further highlighted the Federal Government’s adoption of continuous reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP) technology in road construction.
According to him, increased use of the technology could reduce dependence on imported bitumen, encourage local sourcing of construction materials and support domestic technical expertise.
Umahi said the approach could also help reduce foreign exchange expenditure on imported road construction materials while improving the durability of road infrastructure.
He urged members of the directorate to ensure that information presented to Nigerians was accurate, comprehensive and reflective of projects being undertaken across the country.
The inauguration forms part of the APC Presidential Campaign Council’s preparations to communicate the Tinubu administration’s infrastructure record to voters ahead of the 2027 elections.
