The Kebbi State Government has approved a ₦75,000 minimum wage for 17,620 teachers across the state, with implementation expected to begin in October 2026.

The state Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, Abubakar Zaki, disclosed the development, saying the approval followed Governor Nasir Idris’ endorsement of the White Paper on the report of a committee that reviewed the state’s teaching workforce and salary structure.

According to Zaki, the new wage arrangement will cover 17,620 teachers and is expected to improve the welfare of teaching personnel across the state.

The NUT welcomed the decision and commended the state government for what it described as continued investment in education.

The union also highlighted the rehabilitation of 2,650 schools and construction of 200 new schools as part of ongoing efforts to improve education infrastructure in the state.

Zaki urged teachers to reciprocate the government’s intervention through greater dedication, professionalism and commitment to their responsibilities.

He said improved remuneration should translate into stronger service delivery and better educational outcomes for pupils and students across Kebbi State.
