Former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has urged the Federal Government to take measures to prevent a recurrence of the Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Igbokoda, Ondo State.
The Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft crashed on Monday while on a routine flight from Benin City to Lagos, killing all 25 people on board, comprising 20 passengers and five crew members.
Reacting to the tragedy on Wednesday, Tambuwal expressed sadness over the loss of life and extended his condolences to President Bola Tinubu, the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of the Air Staff and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

“My deepest sympathies go to the families, loved ones and colleagues of all those who lost their lives,” Tambuwal said.
He described the deaths as a devastating loss to the victims’ families and the country, while paying tribute to the personnel and other passengers who died in the crash.
Tambuwal called for adequate support for the bereaved families as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
“As investigations proceed, I urge that the bereaved families receive the care and support they need, and that every necessary step be taken to prevent a recurrence,” he said.

President Tinubu had earlier directed the Nigerian Air Force to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash.
Tambuwal prayed for the repose of the victims and asked God to grant their families strength and comfort as they mourn.
