The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has warned its members against supporting Peter Obi and the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, in the 2027 general elections, arguing that doing so would weaken the party’s political interests.
APGA National Publicity Secretary, Ejimofor Opara, made the party’s position known in a statement on Tuesday, amid growing political activity ahead of the elections.
Opara accused Obi, a former Anambra State governor and former APGA member, of repeatedly supporting candidates running against APGA since leaving the party.
He questioned why Obi continued to field or support candidates against APGA if there was any political understanding between the former governor and the party.
According to Opara, APGA and the NDC have no formal or informal power-sharing agreement, and members should therefore regard the NDC as a competing political organisation ahead of the elections.

The APGA spokesman argued that supporting Obi and the NDC would amount to working against APGA candidates contesting elective positions.
“A vote for Peter Obi and the NDC is a vote to kill APGA,” the party said.
APGA also accused Obi of working against the party in previous electoral cycles, an allegation reflecting the party’s political position.
The party defended its support for President Bola Tinubu, saying the decision was influenced by its relationship with the party controlling the Federal Government and what it described as infrastructure development undertaken by the Tinubu administration in the South-East.
Opara urged APGA members, particularly in Anambra State, to remain loyal to the party and protect its political structure ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Anambra is APGA,” he said, maintaining that defending the party’s political base remained in the interest of its members.

The statement underscores the widening political differences between APGA and Obi as parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
