President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja after spending six days in Lagos following his annual vacation in Europe.

Tinubu departed Lagos for the Federal Capital Territory on Monday evening, according to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The President arrived in Lagos on September 29 after completing his vacation in London and Paris.

During his stay in Lagos, Tinubu delivered his Independence Day address on October 1 as Nigeria marked its 66th anniversary.

In the broadcast, the President said the country was moving from what he described as an “age of reform” into an “age of prosperity.”

Later that day, Tinubu attended the national premiere of “MKO,” a documentary examining the life, political struggle and legacy of the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola and the June 12 pro-democracy movement.

The screening took place at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Lagos.

On Sunday, Tinubu visited the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, at the Iga Iduganran Palace on Lagos Island.

The Lagos stay followed the President’s extended working vacation in Europe.

Tinubu had departed Nigeria on August 30 for London before travelling to Paris, where he met French President Emmanuel Macron and other individuals during his stay.

The Presidency had maintained that Tinubu remained in contact with officials and continued directing government affairs while outside the country.

Vice President Kashim Shettima represented Nigeria at the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York during the President’s absence.

Tinubu’s return to Abuja brings him back to the Federal Capital Territory following his European trip and subsequent six-day stay in Lagos.
