The Federal High Court in Abuja has arraigned Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Mathew on an eight-count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.
Adeyemi pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against him.
The prosecution alleged that Adeyemi conspired with other individuals, including a person identified as Anu whose surname is unknown and who remains at large, to commit forgery.
Among the allegations is that Adeyemi forged documents purportedly originating from the State House in Abuja in connection with the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.

The prosecution also accused him of falsely presenting himself as Director-General of the council between 2024 and 2025.
Other counts concern the alleged forgery of documents relating to requests for office space, collaboration with government institutions, approval of staff account status and the purported take-off of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council/Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.
The alleged forgery offences were brought under provisions of the Miscellaneous Offences Act, while the impersonation allegation was brought under the Penal Code.
Adeyemi denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him.
The controversy surrounding the council had earlier prompted investigations by federal authorities.

The Presidency has maintained that the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council was not established by the Federal Government and that Adeyemi was never appointed as its Director-General.
An investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission also concluded that the council had no legal basis and recommended Adeyemi’s prosecution over alleged forgery, impersonation and related offences.
Adeyemi has denied wrongdoing and maintained that he would defend himself against the allegations in court.
The case will proceed following his not-guilty pleas, with the prosecution required to establish the allegations against him.
