Tyson Fury has predicted that he will knock out Anthony Joshua within seven rounds when the British heavyweight rivals meet at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on December 11.
Fury predicted while speaking publicly about the long-awaited bout, describing Joshua as a “stepping stone” to a potential third fight with Oleksandr Usyk.
The former heavyweight champion said he expected to dominate Joshua before stopping him inside six or seven rounds.
“I’m just going to knock him out, one hundred per cent,” Fury said on the Furocity YouTube channel.
“I’m going to box the head off him and stop him inside six or seven rounds. I’m only using Joshua as a stepping stone, a warm-up to Usyk.”
Fury also questioned Joshua’s speed and stamina, arguing that the former two-time heavyweight champion would struggle against his style.
“Joshua, for me, is an old bum. A weightlifter. Too many weights, not enough speed. Too many weights, no cardio. So I will cut through him like a hot knife through butter,” Fury said.
The comments add to the build-up to a contest that has been discussed for more than a decade but repeatedly failed to materialise because of negotiations, contractual issues and changes in the fighters’ careers.
The December showdown will bring together two of Britain’s most prominent heavyweight boxers, both of whom have previously held multiple world titles.
Fury has made clear that another fight with Usyk remains among his ambitions after losing twice to the Ukrainian on points in 2024.
Joshua has also lost twice to Usyk, first in 2021 and again in their 2022 rematch.
Fury’s prediction represents his assessment ahead of the contest, with the outcome to be determined when the two heavyweights meet in Cardiff.
