Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has claimed that the United States will seek significant involvement in Nigeria’s 2027 general election, as political activities intensify ahead of the polls.
Ayodele made the claim on Friday at the international headquarters of his church in Lagos, where he spoke about developments he expects ahead of the election.
“America wants to make sure they really engage in the coming election,” Ayodele said.
The cleric went further to claim that Washington would seek to influence who emerges as Nigeria’s next president, irrespective of whether the candidate comes from the ruling party or the opposition.
“America wants to install who becomes the next president in Nigeria, regardless of whether you are in the ruling party or you are not in the ruling party,” he said.
Ayodele also predicted attempts to manipulate the electoral process, saying, “I see rigging in the 2027 election.”
The remarks form part of a series of predictions the cleric has made concerning Nigeria’s 2027 elections. Earlier this month, he also made claims concerning US-held records and their possible implications for the election.
However, Ayodele provided no evidence establishing that the United States intends to determine Nigeria’s next president, and his remarks should be understood as his own prediction rather than a confirmed US government position.
His comments come as political parties and candidates intensify preparations ahead of the 2027 general election.
