The Sarkin Gabas of Gwandu and District Head of Gwandu, Muhammad Zayyanu Bello, has died in Kebbi State following a prolonged illness.
The traditional ruler reportedly died on Tuesday at his palace in Gwandu.
His death has thrown the Gwandu Emirate into mourning, with residents and members of the traditional institution grieving the loss.
Family sources said the late traditional ruler is expected to be buried on Wednesday at the Gwandu Emirate Palace in Birnin Kebbi.
Confirming his father’s death, Nasiru Zayyanu described the loss as painful and irreplaceable, saying it would be deeply felt across the Gwandu Emirate and Kebbi State.
The late Zayyanu succeeded his father, Bello Mai Wurno, as Sarkin Gabas of Gwandu.
He is survived by his wife and children.
