All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned the call by the new factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Tanimu Turaki, for foreign intervention in Nigeria, describing it as reckless, unpatriotic, and a threat to national security.

In a statement released on Tuesday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, CON, the ruling party criticized Turaki for calling on foreign powers to intervene in Nigeria to address alleged “Christian genocide” and to protect democracy, just 72 hours after his controversial declaration as PDP chairman by one of the party’s warring factions.

“For a man declared National Chairman barely 72 hours ago, Turaki looked and sounded desperate, incoherent, and grossly lacking the stamina and capacity to manage his party’s crisis,” the statement read.

The APC added that Nigerians had expected Turaki to embark on urgent peace-building efforts to reconcile his party’s internal factions. Instead, Turaki’s call for foreign intervention was described as a dangerous threat to national sovereignty.

“Under the PDP’s 16 years in power, there was never a call for foreign invasion as a solution to internal party crises. Turaki’s call is an admission of the party’s incapacity and a certification of its demise,” the statement said.

The ruling party urged the international community to dismiss the PDP’s request as a distraction from its internal failures, adding that the plea reflects the desperation of opposition leaders.

“We urge Nigerians to stand firm in support of our great Party and the visionary leadership of President Bola Tinubu as we continue the arduous task of building progress and prosperity in all areas of our national life,” the APC concluded.
