American tennis star Coco Gauff staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Russia’s Mirra Andreeva and secure a place in the semi-finals of the 2026 US Open.
The 2023 champion recovered from losing the opening set and saved two match points before overcoming the fifth-seeded Andreeva 2-6, 7-6(7), 6-2 in a thrilling quarter-final contest.
Gauff struggled early in the match as Andreeva dominated the first set, but the American regained her composure in the second set, surviving a tense tie-break to force a deciding set.

The 22-year-old then took control of the final set, breaking Andreeva’s serve twice to complete the comeback and book her second US Open semi-final appearance.
Gauff will face newly crowned world number one Elena Rybakina in the last four, after the Kazakh player also fought back from a set down to defeat Zheng Qinwen.
The semi-final clash will be the third meeting between Gauff and Rybakina, with both players having won once in their previous encounters.
