United States President Donald Trump has met with executives from major travel companies at the White House as his administration discusses efforts to strengthen the country’s tourism sector.
The meeting brought together representatives from major travel and hospitality companies, including American Airlines, Marriott, MGM Resorts and Carnival, according to a White House official.
Discussions focused on the state of the U.S. travel industry, which has experienced both growth and challenges in recent years. The sector received a boost from the FIFA World Cup this summer, with travel spending increasing by 6.2% year-on-year in June to $122.1 billion.

However, international visitor numbers have declined, with travel industry officials pointing to factors including longer visa interview waiting times, higher airline ticket costs, stricter immigration policies, tariffs and travel restrictions affecting some countries.
The White House said the meeting was part of ongoing engagement with industry leaders on improving travel experiences, supporting tourism growth and addressing concerns affecting international arrivals.
Executives from airlines, hotels, cruise operators and other travel-related businesses have continued to call for policies that can encourage international visitors while maintaining security measures.
The meeting forms part of the Trump administration’s broader efforts to engage private-sector leaders on economic issues affecting key industries.
