Demolition: Shock as military officers :attack’ Wike, FCTA officials at Gaduwa

Some Naval Officers purportedly acting on the orders of Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, a retired Nigerian Navy officer, who served as the 21st indigenous Chief of the Naval Staff have brutally confronted and resisted corrective action on an illegal estate development site by FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike and some top officials of the FCT Administration, in Gaduwa District of Abuja.

Wike, who on Monday, in company of other senior officers of the FCT administration had arrived at plot 1946, Buffer Transit Southern Park Way, Gaduwa District, belonging to Vice Admiral Gambo, where an illegal development was said to be going on, met a resistant squad drafted from the Naval Base.

The development that sent shocking waves round the nation’s capital, however took the timely and restrained intervention of some security personnel mainly Policemen attached to the minister, who ensured that it not turn bloody.

It was observed that the armed military officers who had blocked the entrance to the plot with their truck, preventing bulldozers from the Department of Development Control from gaining access to the site for demolition, also attacked the Minister, insisting that he would not be granted access.

Despite the blockage, the Minister made his way into the site, followed by his security aides, but the Military officers stood by the way, shoved the Minister aside , declaring that they are obeying an order.

Wike, after making and receiving calls turned back from the spot where the military officers blocked him, but vowed that he will not allow the illegal development to go on.

He disclosed that the said retired Naval officer does not have any paper or approval to develop the land, but wants to grab the land by intimidation.
