Aston Villa forward Nicolas Jackson has made his debut for the club in their Premier League clash against Arsenal at Villa Park.
The Senegal international was handed a starting role by manager Unai Emery after completing his move from Chelsea, with Villa looking to strengthen their attack following the departure of Ollie Watkins.
Jackson’s inclusion came after Villa registered him in time to be eligible for the fixture, allowing Emery to immediately deploy his new attacking option against the reigning champions.
The striker was joined in the starting lineup by goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, who also made his Villa debut as the club introduced new signings following a difficult start to the season.
Villa entered the match seeking a response after suffering a 4-0 defeat to Brighton in their opening Premier League fixture, while Arsenal arrived at Villa Park aiming to continue their strong start to the campaign.
Jackson joined Aston Villa from Chelsea in a deal reported to be worth up to £65 million, reuniting him with Emery, who previously worked with the striker at Villarreal.
