The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Professor Christopher N. Ekong, has donated three new motorcycles to the institution’s Directorate of Security Services to enhance patrol operations and strengthen security across the University community.

Professor Ekong formally handed over the motorcycles to the Director of Security Services, Mr Effiong Etim, on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Central Administrative Building of the University’s Main Campus along Nwaniba Road, Uyo.

The Vice-Chancellor said the intervention was part of his administration’s commitment to improving security infrastructure and providing the necessary logistics to enable security personnel to discharge their responsibilities effectively.

He charged the Directorate to use the motorcycles judiciously and sustain effective patrols to ensure a safe and conducive environment for teaching, learning, research, and other activities within the University.

Receiving the motorcycles on behalf of the Directorate, Mr Etim thanked the Vice-Chancellor for the gesture, noting that the motorcycles would significantly improve the operational capacity of security personnel, particularly in areas where vehicular patrols may be difficult or time-consuming.

The donation is part of the Professor Christopher Ekong-led administration’s efforts to strengthen campus security and maintain a peaceful, safe environment for members of the University community.
