Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu at the commissioning on Thursday, said the Federal Government was pleased with the infrastructural projects undertaken by the Fubara administration, particularly the reconstruction of the strategic road.
The road traverses three local government areas, namely Ikwerre, Emohua and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni and is expected to improve connectivity and open up communities along the corridor for greater socio-economic development.
Speaking during the commissioning, Shettima said the project would improve the movement of people and goods while creating opportunities for farmers, traders, workers and other residents.
He said infrastructure should ultimately be measured by its impact on the lives of citizens.
“Public infrastructure must be judged by the lives it improves,” the Vice President said.
Shettima noted that the road had previously been characterised by deep gullies, a deteriorated carriageway, difficult journeys and security concerns, but said the completed dual carriageway had transformed the corridor.
He commended Fubara for committing public resources to the project and bringing it to completion, describing the development as an example of continuity in governance.

The Vice President said the improved road would enable farmers to transport their produce more efficiently, allow traders to access wider markets and help businesses reduce logistics costs.
In his remarks, Fubara expressed joy and a sense of fulfilment over the completion of the project, despite the challenges and difficulties his administration had encountered.
The governor described the road as a major intervention for the people of the three benefiting local government areas, saying its previous condition had made it dangerous for motorists and other road users.
Fubara said the corridor had also been associated with kidnapping and illegal bunkering activities, expressing confidence that the newly completed road would improve security and make it easier for security agencies to operate effectively.
According to him, the entire stretch of the road has been illuminated to improve visibility and discourage criminal activities at night.
“It’s not just a project; it’s a statement that we have made to show our people, the three local governments, the benefits, the communities that are most close to this project that we care for you and your concerns are our concern,” Fubara said.
The governor thanked the Federal Government for its support and said the completion of the road demonstrated his administration’s commitment to fulfilling its promises to Rivers residents.

Earlier, the Rivers State Commissioner for Works, Prof. Temple Nwofor, in his project description, said the road would enhance connectivity and mobility while promoting economic activities across the three local government areas.
The 33.5-kilometre dual carriageway, which includes a river-crossing bridge, is one of the major infrastructure projects completed and inaugurated by the Rivers State Government.
Rismadarvoice reporter gathered that the Elele-Egbeda-Omoku Dual Carriageway, commissioned by Vice President Kashim Shettima, stretches 33.5 kilometres across Ikwerre, Emohua and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Areas of Rivers State.
