Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, KSJI, has raised the alarm over what he described as disturbing and increasingly credible threats to his life and members of his family, alleging that the threats are emanating from Delta State Government House in Asaba.

Omo-Agege, who is the Deputy President of the Ninth Senate and candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for Delta Central Senatorial District, made the allegation in a statement issued as he commenced his campaign activities in the state.

The former Senate Deputy President stated that the campaign would commence with stops in Uvwie Local Government Area and subsequently extend to the other seven local government areas within the senatorial district.

He called on the Nigerian public, international community, civil society organisations, the media and all security agencies to take formal notice of the alleged threats.

Omo-Agege further stated that if anything untoward were to happen to him or any member of his family, the Governor of Delta State, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, should be held responsible and accountable.

He said the alert was necessary in view of what he described as the increasingly credible nature of the threats against him and his family as he begins his political campaign.

The NDC candidate urged security agencies and other relevant authorities to take the allegation seriously and ensure adequate protection for him and his family throughout the campaign period.

He also called on stakeholders to ensure that the 2027 electoral process is conducted in an atmosphere free from intimidation, violence and threats to the lives of political actors and citizens.
