Nigerian street-pop sensation, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has announced his decision to return to school – this time with a clear purpose of mastering the business side of music, understanding royalties, and improving his label management skills.

In a heartfelt revelation, the Zazuu Zeh crooner stated that despite his fame and financial success, he has realized the importance of formal education in navigating the complex world of the music industry.

“I want to go back to school. I get money and I get influence, but many people dey abuse me say I no go school. I want to finish my education. I’ve made up my mind to go back to school so I can learn how to manage my music business properly. I need to understand royalties and business deals better, especially for my record label. Education no be scam. Even the Kwara Poly wey I go before, dem dismiss me — no certificate, nothing. But this time, I must go back to learn this music business well,” he said.

Portable, who once attended Kwara State Polytechnic before being dismissed, disclosed that the experience left him without a certificate. However, his renewed determination to return to the classroom underscores a deeper appreciation for the value of education.

The singer expressed that going back to school will equip him with the right tools to protect his music brand, negotiate fair deals, and build a stronger record label for upcoming artists under his management.
