Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 10 civilians kidnapped by terrorists in separate operations across Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States.

In Sokoto, troops conducting a patrol in Isa Local Government Area on August 19, 2026, encountered a terrorist ambush but swiftly repelled the attackers, forcing them to flee.

Five civilians were rescued during the encounter and subsequently reunited with their families, while two motorcycles abandoned by the terrorists were recovered.

In Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, troops on August 18 rescued three kidnapped victims following intelligence on their location. The victims were profiled and handed over to the appropriate authorities.

Similarly, troops responding to terrorist activity in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State forced the attackers to flee, abandoning two captives. The victims, who sustained gunshot wounds, were evacuated to a medical facility for treatment.

The Theatre Command said efforts were ongoing to track the fleeing terrorists, while troops would sustain operations to protect communities and neutralise criminal elements across the Joint Operations Area.

The Command also urged residents to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies to support ongoing operations and enhance the protection of lives and property.
