The management of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, has approved the expulsion of two students over alleged involvement in same-sex conduct, while four other students have been rusticated for one academic session for their roles in a campus fight.
The disciplinary measures were ratified at the university’s 31st Regular Senate Meeting following the consideration of recommendations submitted by the Students’ Disciplinary Committee.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the university’s Information, Public Relations and Protocol Unit.
According to the statement, the sanctions were imposed in line with the provisions of the institution’s Students’ Handbook (Second Edition), as amended in 2025, which outlines disciplinary procedures and penalties for violations of university regulations.
The university identified the expelled students as Onumoko Hamza, of the Department of Biology Education, and Abdulazeez Eneji, of the Department of Mining Engineering. The institution said both students were found to have violated its regulations relating to same-sex conduct.
The university also announced the rustication of four students for one academic session over their involvement in a physical altercation on campus. The affected are Favour Akowe of the Department of Microbiology, Simbiat Babamuharuna of the Department of Biology, Zainab Omayoza of the Department of Biochemistry, and Sukura Bukola, also of the Department of Biochemistry.
According to the university, the affected students have been formally notified of the disciplinary actions through letters signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Eli Gbadafu.
Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining order and discipline within the institution, the management said it would continue to enforce its rules to ensure a safe and conducive environment for teaching, learning and research.
The university warned that it would not hesitate to impose appropriate sanctions on any student found guilty of violating its regulations, regardless of status.
It also advised students to acquaint themselves with the provisions of the Students’ Handbook and conduct themselves in accordance with the institution’s established rules and code of conduct.
